Hiking is an outdoor recreational activity that is enjoyed by millions of people. It is done for pleasure, exercise or as a competitive sport. Hikes can last anywhere from twenty minutes to several days depending on the individual’s fitness level and endurance.

There are many hiking trails all over the world. Some of these trails lead through some exotic locations that most people will never see in their lifetime. Some of the trails take people through forests, along rivers and across cliffs. These locations are brilliantly beautiful but can also be potentially hazardous to hikers if they don’t know what they’re doing.

In order for a hike to be successful, there is a lot of preparation that needs to take place before you hit the trail. First and foremost, it’s important to make sure you have the right equipment. This should include sturdy hiking boots with thick soles, sunblock and other protective gear like sunglasses and a hat, a map and compass or a GPS device, a first aid kit and checklists of the supplies you will need. In order to prepare for your hike it’s important to dress properly as well. Lightweight hiking clothing is best as it prevents overheating during the day and keeps people warm at night.
